MARCIO LASSITER HURT BACK, BUT NO FRACTURE, SAYS TEAM EXEC
Good news, Petron Blaze fans: an X-ray revealed that Marcio Lassiter didn’t fracture a bone on his lower back.
San Miguel team executive Noli Eala confirmed this latest development on his Twitter account Thursday night.
“Initial X-ray findings: no fracture, just muscle spasm and bone bruise. Marcio still in the hospital though for more observation due to continued pain,” Eala posted.
“Great news! Marcio will be discharged tonight. He is a lot better and walking already. Thanks to all who prayed for him,” added Eala.
Lassiter, the hardworking swingman of the Boosters, took a bad fall, his lower back hitting the floor hard after losing his balance when he chased James Yap during a play in the fourth quarter.
He was left grimacing in pain and had to be carried out all the way to their bench by his teammates. While on the bench, Lassiter had to lie on his stomach to rest his hurting back.
He was sent to Medical City for check up after the player complained of continuous pain.
San Mig Coffee coach Tim Cone admitted they were fortunate to win the game when Petron lost Lassiter, who was playing so well before the fall.
“We were fortunate because of the Lassiter injury. He was playing so well and we had a hard time chasing him. But from our standpoint, we don’t want to see him like that. I hope he’s alright,” said Cone. (RJ)
