Washington (10-24-14)

So far, so good.

Disappointed when he was traded by Talk n Text in 2008, Jay Washington is now showing the maturity vital in helping this Tropang Texters squad reach its full potential.

And that was seen in TNT’s 103-81 win over NLEX Friday, where J-Wash logged 19 points and 10 rebounds.

But Washington believes that he still has to polish his game to better suit Talk ‘N Text.

“I just have to keep on improving,” he said. “I’m trying to find my rhythm in the offense and do what coach wants me to do.”

The 6-foot-8 forward has noted the changes in roles in the different teams he has played for, saying, “I’m used to kind of having to freelance out there and finding my rhythm, but I have a more specific role with this team.”

“With our offense, I’m looked at more as a shooter, being able to spread the floor for the other guys, for our guards, more selective with my shots. When I can attack or post up, we’ll take advantage of that.”

Talk ‘N Text’s depth is likewise a big factor.

“We take our turns. It’s kind of an advantage, being that our floormen are pretty much athletic, we can hound the bigger guys and make life hard for them,” he said. “That’s the good thing about our team, we’re pretty much the same size, same position.”

J-Wash is back, and letting everyone take notice. (RL)
