For Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao, Talk n Text is the first real test that could gauge their readiness to contend in the 2014-15 PBA Philippine Cup.
The Elasto Painters and the Tropang Texters face off in an interesting match-up in the 5:15 p.m. mainer of the PBA All-Souls Day presentation at the Smart Araneta Coliseum Sunday.
“We have two wins so far but we haven’t proven ourselves yet against the legitimate title contenders,” Guiao insisted.
“This game against Talk n Text will really test our preparation for this conference. TnT is solid despite some concerns with the health of their veterans. We will know if we are ready to contend this conference,” Guiao also said.
Rain or Shine is in a heavy four-way logjam at third place with Barangay Ginebra, Meralco and NLEX at 2-1.
The E-Painters’ two wins don’t impress their coach, though, coming at the expense of expansion teams Blackwater Elite and Kia Sorento.
Meanwhile, Talk n Text is at 1-2, beaten by fellow elite teams Barangay Ginebra and Alaska Milk. The Texters’ lone win was fashioned out versus the NLEX Road Warriors, 103-81.
Both teams foresee a battle.
The Texters engaged the Aces in such an encounter Tuesday, barely losing on a last-gasp teardrop shot by Calvin Abueva.
Againt Ginebra, the Texters were beaten in the final quarter. It will be a test of character for both the E-Painters and the Texters. (SB)
