THE BEAST EAGER TO ROCK CHAMPIONSHIP ROUNDS
With Alaska sitting idle at 8-3, the Aces’ march towards an automatic berth in the PBA Philippine Cup Final 4 sputtered down the stretch.
Losing their last two outings, it seems like the Aces lost steam after a 6-0 start this conference.
But for Calvin Abueva, it’s just the little things that they need to fix wherever they end up in the playoffs.
“Di pa namin alam yung babagsakan namin, pero ita-try namin yung best namin para makapasok pa rin ng semis,” he said after Alaska lost to Rain or Shine on Friday.
“Siguro, sa kanila talaga itong game na to. Nilalaro naman namin yung best namin, di lang nasagad.”
Averaging 17.4 points, 13.0 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in the eliminations, Abueva has really been the rock for Alaska in the eliminations. But as with the case before, it would take more than just Abueva to tow this squad back to the championship rounds.
“Sa akin, tingin ko ok na yung ginagawa ko. Pero as a group, lahat kami nawawala. Ginagawa naman namin yung best namin eh. Silat lang talaga,” the enigmatic Beast said.
And he’s already looking forward for their next game, as he vowed, “Nasilat man kami ngayon, andito pa naman kami eh. Babawi na lang kami next game.” (RL)
