JUST FOCUS & PREPARATION
Snubbed from the 40 Greatest Players list, was Friday’s game a statement game from Danny Seigle?
He says otherwise.
“It’s a regular game that we needed to win. We’re thinking about the playoffs and now, I’m just focused on what’s coming next, whenever that comes,” Seigle said.
The 1999 Rookie of the Year had a vintage performance on Friday against San Miguel Beer, ironically his old squad. He scored all of his 12 points in the second half, including four in the killer 7-0 run in the last three minutes of the game as the Tropang Texters held on to grab the victory in the endgame.
With the win, Talk ‘N Text improved its chances for a top two finish, depending on how the quotient system works out at the end of the eliminations.
Seigle said that nothing’s special with his game on Friday and it’s just his preparation that made him perform that well.
“You just have to be ready. When I get that call, I work hard in practice. If I get 10 minutes, I have to be ready for it,” he said.
But was Seigle ready with the news of the snub? He takes solace on the people’s views of him being left out of the list.
He said, “It’s great (that people think I deserve to be there). It’s some kind of consolation and I really appreciate it.” (RL)
