HUNGRY KINGS TAKE ON BATANG PIER
Barangay Ginebra San Miguel tries to take one step closer to ending its seven-year title drought as it aims to dispatch GlobalPort Friday in the 2015 PBA Philippine Cup at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
Enjoying a twice-to-beat edge in the first phase of the quarterfinals, the Kings would like nothing more than to avenge their 77-98 loss to the Batang Pier two weeks ago.
“We want to stay hungry in time for the playoffs,” said Ginebra coach Jeffrey Cariaso.
Cariaso will be hoping for a consistent outing from his wards, bannered by LA Tenorio, Greg Slaughter and Japeth Aguilar.
However, they will be facing a retooled GlobalPort squad which will be having Sol Mercado back in their fold.
It still has to be seen if Mercado can blend in the same way Cabagnot did with Terrence Romeo and Stanley Pringle.
Game time is at 7 p.m.
The winner of this game will square off against the victor of the Talk ‘N Text-Barako Bull series in the second phase of the quarterfinals, with the survivor advancing to the best-of-7 semifinals versus top seed San Miguel Beermen. (RL)
