In the midst of heated PBA Philippine Cup semifinal battles, some quarters have slammed the way the games have been called.
Media reports have quoted some team personalities hitting officiating.
PBA commissioner Chito Salud stressed that game officials will continue to give all teams equal chance of winning, at the same time calling on all teams to focus on playing and giving the fans what they want.
“Both semifinal series are exciting matchups. Every game counts and every game lost may cause anguish and disappointment. And understandably so because all the semifinalists are highly competitive, super motivated and evenly matched,” Salud said.
“The fans are our real winners here – our fans who deserve topnotch competition played with the highest tenets of sportsmanship. The referees will be firm, steadfast and fair, as they have been so I call on the teams to focus on one thing and one thing alone: giving their best as they play the game on the merits.” (RL)
