That was the case for Gabe Norwood during their Christmas Day game against Alaska as the Rain or Shine stalwart was presented with chances to swish the cords every now and then. And well, he drained some..and missed some.

With less than four minutes left, Gabe Norwood went to the charity stripe for a chance to pad Rain or Shine’s lead. Unfortunately, both of his shots missed, keeping the score at a close 86-85.

But a miss on the other end would lead to Norwood atoning for those bungled opportunities and nailing a jumper to push the E-Painters up, 88-85.

FEATURED STORIES

This would prove to be a recurring story in the tailend of the game, as Norwood drilled in big jumpers, including a three-pointer to give Rain or Shine a 96-89 edge in the final 1:28 which virtually sealed the deal and evened the series up at two games apiece.

For Norwood, he says that all of those are just “practice shots.”

“The defense leaves me open at times because I don’t take those shots. It’s just a matter of taking and making them,” he said.

And those seven points in the payoff period helped Rain or Shine nab a 98-91 win on Christmas Day.

He finished with 12 points and six rebounds for the game, which, Norwood admitted, was a big boost for their squad.

“It’s huge for us moving forward. We’re pretty down after our last game because that wasn’t us. It’s a big test of our character and our maturity.”

Game 5 is set on Saturday, still at the Mall of Asia Arena. (RL)
