It was quite a disappointing year for Barangay Ginebra, failing to at least crack the championship series in 2014.

And even the Kings themselves acknowledge that.

“A lot of ups and downs, a lot of adversities. It’s a lot of soul searching type of a year,” said forward Chris Ellis.

“You sacrifice a lot of things and you just try to make the best out of the situation.”

For last season’s Rookie of the Year Greg Slaughter, he was frank enough to admit their failures rhr past year.

“I don’t know what happened. I think we don’t know what our identity is as a team. I don’t think we established our roles on the squad. And when the pressure comes, we rely on our talent rather than stick with the team,” Slaughter said.

Though both knew that it was a tough year for the crowd favorites, they still look forward to what the future holds for Ginebra.

“2015 is going to be greater,” Ellis said. “My New Year’s Resolution for 2015 would probably be to never lose a game again.”

The past couple of weeks, talks have swirled in basketball circles about another shakeup on the Ginebra bench.

For the Kings’ legions of fans, they’re all crossing their fingers the changes, if any, will all be for the best. (RL)
