CHRIS TIU: READY FOR GAME 6, 100% OR NOT
Despite Rain or Shine being ravaged by injuries all conference long, it’s a welcome addition for head coach Yeng Guiao that he finally had Chris Tiu back on his bench.
Sidelined by a hamstring injury, the former Ateneo Blue Eagle finally saw action on the hardcourt last Christmas Day which boosted the depleted backcourt of the E-Painters.
But Tiu admitted that he’s still not in full strength.
“I’m not there yet,” he said. “I still have a long way to go in my strength and conditioning.
“The hamstring is still bothering me and I still need time for rehab to really get back to a good shape.”
But ever the fighter, Tiu bared his readiness to Guiao, telling his coach, “I want to help the team so anything I could do to help the team, I told coach that I’m ready.”
Now, with Rain or Shine down 2-3 in their best-of-7 semifinals series against Alaska, it will be very important for the E-Painters to have Tiu in full strength come Game 6 at the MOA Arena this Sunday and utilize his three-point shooting as well as his court vision.
“Recovery will be very important. We’ll see how it feels,” he said. (RL)
