KAILANGAN NA LANG I-GRAB ANG TROPHY – JUNE MAR
Despite flexing his muscles down low and rejecting five shots to host the San Miguel block party on Friday, June Mar Fajardo downplayed the defensive masterpiece he had in Game 5.
“Tsamba lang yun,” he said.
But as much as he wants to play the humble card, there’s no denying that the league MVP has been a rock for the Beermen in the Finals, as in Game 5, he had 19 points and 13 rebounds to go with his five blocks to pace San Miguel to a 93-88 win.
The victory allowed the Beermen to gain a 3-2 series edge against Alaska, and moves them a win away from the 2015 PBA Philippine Cup.
And Fajardo did it despite the physical Alaska defense wrapped around him all game long.
“Maganda yung depensa nila eh. Buti nanalo kami,” he said, also noting that it was a total team effort from the squad.
“Maganda rin ang nilaro ni Arwind. Credit din sa kanya. Credit sa amin lahat,” he said.
And he wants no let up this time as they close in on his first championship as a pro.
“Andyan na eh. Andito na yung trophy. Kailangan na lang namin i-grab,” the Kraken said. “Hopefully sa Sunday, maka-adjust kami. Yung mga mali namin ngayon, makita namin at maayos namin. Sana next game, mas maganda pa ang laruin namin.” (RL)
