GINEBRA TAPS DUNIGAN
Versatile Michael Dunigan will once again display his wares in the PBA, this time suiting up for crowd favorite Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in the Commissioner’s Cup which fires off January 27.
The 6-foot-9 big man had a big impact in his first time out in the Philippines, towing the Air21 Express to the 2013 Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinals after averaging 23.9 points, 15.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.4 blocks in 15 games.
Ginebra beat Meralco for the services of Dunigan, who is currently playing for the Canton Charge in the NBA D-League.
“We like his energy. He plays hard. Yun ang kailangan natin. He can play four and five,” Ginebra team manager Alfrancis Chua said.
Dunigan is currently norming 11.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.4 blocks with the Charge.
He is just wrapping up the D-League Showcase in Santa Cruz, California before flying in late this week.
Dunigan joins a Ginebra squad which has undergone a coaching change during the conference break, as returning head coach Ato Agustin will once again employ his run-and-gun style with the Kings. (RL)
