Is it a prelude to the matchup of the future, following the footsteps of some of the greatest guard duels in PBA history?

If it is, then the future really looks bright for the PBA.

Paul Lee and Terrence Romeo tried to one-up each other when Rain or Shine clashed with GlobalPort on Friday.

And the game was as entertaining as it was on paper, with the Elasto Painters holding off the pesky Batang Pier, 104-98.

Lee admitted that he enjoyed the duel, saying, “Alam ko gusto naming parehas yung ganung klaseng laro – pisikalan.”

“Maganda din para sa fans. Iba talaga yung may nagko-compete sa isa’t isa,” he said.

The Tondo-bred sentinel finished with 25 points on a perfect 10-of-10 clip from the charity stripe, to go along with his five rebounds. Romeo recorded 29 points on 7-of-9 shooting from three-point region. But in the end, only one  got the W – Lee.

The 25-year-old national team player, however, gave Romeo a lot of praise with his offensive outburst in this game.

“Grabe. Parang nakikita ko si Gary David nung Powerade na pag uminit, tuloy-tuloy na at hindi ma-stop. Konting space lang, pu-pull up sa three points,” Lee said.

“Challenge talaga sa team kung pano sya masa-stop. Kailangan talagang pagtuunan ng pansin. Team defense talaga dapat kasi pag one-on-one, mahihirapan lang yung babantay.” (RL)
