4 E-PAINTERS LEAD COACHES’ ALL-STAR CHOICES
After a memorable stint with the national team, four Rain or Shine players lead the reserves for the 2015 PBA All-Star Game in Puerto Princesa, Palawan on March 8.
Selected by the PBA coaches, Beau Belga, Paul Lee, and Gabe Norwood will tie their laces for the North All-Stars while Jeff Chan will suit up on the other side of the fence as part of the South All-Stars.
Aside from the troika of Elasto Painters in the stars from Luzon, Gilas teammates Jayson Castro and Ranidel de Ocampo of Talk ‘N Text, Philippine Cup Finals MVP Arwind Santos of San Miguel Beer and GlobalPort sophomore Terrence Romeo complete the squad.
Romeo’s backcourt mate and this season’s No. 1 overall draft pick Stanley Pringle will also make his All-Star debut for the South side, alongside Alaska veterans Cyrus Baguio and Dondon Hontiveros, Purefoods’ Joe Devance and Peter June Simon, and Meralco’s hardworking forward Reynel Hugnatan.
Recently retired playmaker and now Talk ‘N Text team manager Jimmy Alapag was earlier announced as the 13th man for the South side, giving the Mighty Mouse one last hurrah for a fitting end to an illustrious 12-year PBA career.
As earlier announced, the towering frontline of June Mar Fajardo, Greg Slaughter, and Asi Taulava will start for the South All-Stars together with backcourtmen Mark Barroca and James Yap. The North All-Stars will open hostilities with a gritty crew in Marc Pingris, Calvin Abueva, Japeth Aguilar, Mark Caguioa and Justin Melton.
San Miguel coach Leo Austria will mentor the North All-Stars while Alaska chief tactician Alex Compton will call the shots for the South All-Stars.
The 2015 PBA All-Star Game at the Puerto Princesa Coliseum serves as the highlight of the four-day mid-season extravaganza and will cap the festivities. (RL)
