WHAT A NIGHT FOR KIA & THE PACMAN
Wednesday night was a good night for Manny Pacquiao and the Kia Carnival.
Not only did the playing coach score his first PBA point, Kia also got to slay another giant, bringing down Purefoods, 95-84, for its second win of the conference.
“Maganda yung ngayong gabi. Maganda yung pinakita nila sa paglalaro. Yung execution na ginawa namin sa practice, nagawa dito. Nagconnect yung shooting nila kaya ganun,” Pacquiao said.
Scoring his lone point in the second quarter via the charity stripe, Pacquiao said that winning on the PBA hardcourt is still something of a new feeling for him, as he faced the mediamen for the post-game interview inside the press room of the Big Dome.
“Ayos lang. Nakakapanibago,” he admitted, opting to put the spotlight on the team’s victory rather than his personal milestone and even beating a squad coached by the legendary Tim Cone. “Ganun talaga. Hindi lahat ng laro ay puro talo na kami. God is gracious kaya binigay yung panalo sa amin.”
Pacquiao did not hide his elation with the big fish they caught, and he says that this is just a testament to the team’s focus in the offseason.
“Maganda sa amin yun. Napakahalaga yung mga tinalo namin kasi champion teams. Sa sakripisyo na ginawa ng players sa training, nadevelop at naimprove yung shooting nila,” he said, as the 2-4 Kia is now in a position to gun for a spot in the quarterfinals.
“May chance pa naman. Dapat lang patindihin yung training namin,” said Pacquiao. “Sa tingin ko eh nagkakaroon na ng kumpyansa yung mga players ko.” (RL)
