RAMOS TARGETS PLAYOFF STINT FOR KIA
Kia is indeed for real.
Tuesday evening, the Carnival toppled another champion, this time the Alaska Aces, for their fourth win of the conference.
As usual, towering import Peter John Ramos was at the forefront of the battle, recording a 30-30 game in the victory with his 36 points and 33 rebounds, that went with four assists to tow Kia to the win and inch the team closer to the playoffs.
But the 7-foot-3 giant knows that it’s not all about him.
“We’ve got a good team. We’ve got a young team. I work with them everyday trying to get them better, and they’re working hard in the games and that’s why we got the wins,” said Ramos, who is also acting as an active coach on the floor. “It’s just the team’s hard work and dedication. Everybody works hard. I just want to help everybody get better so when I go, I’ll leave something behind.”
And he vows to help Kia go to places it hasn’t been to before in the team’s short stay in the PBA. Ramos is targeting the playoffs.
“I’m trying to do something with this team that nobody has ever done. This team has never won four games. Hopefully, we could make it to the playoffs and it will be something special. That’s my goal. Take them to the playoffs and take them far,” he said.
Ramos believes that every game is a chance for them to strengthen their bid for the playoffs.
“This team is good. We’re a young team and we’re just trying to be a better team,” Ramos said. “Everybody’s happy, and I just want to make coach Manny (Pacquiao) happy too.” (RL)
