BUSINESS AS USUAL
Two days after sustaining a gruesome hit from Talk ‘N Text import Ivan Johnson which saw a tooth get knocked out and two others pushed deeper to his gums, Paul Lee will surely be in uniform come Wednesday.
As Rain or Shine shoots for a 3-1 series lead in the 2015 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals, the pride of Tondo has assured fans that he will be in attendance and will play despite taking the two days off.
Lee was treated on Monday by dentists as they pulled out the two teeth which got elbowed deeper into his gums. They then placed fillings in the gaps left, and Lee will be playing with a mouthguard for the remainder of the series.
Once the championship tiff is over, Lee will be undergoing a root canal operation and will be missing at least four weeks of action, sidelining him for the early part of the Governors’ Cup.
But for Lee, the ultimate prize of a championship outweighs any hurt he is feeling.
“Lalaro ako kahit gano kasakit. Gusto ko talagang mag-champion kaya gagawin ko lahat para makatulong sa team ko,” he said.
Coach Yeng Guiao, meanwhile, already expected this mentality from his bull-string guard, saying, “Paul is a fighter.” (RL)
