A WIN IS ALL YOU NEED
Probably playing his best game since returning to Talk ‘N Text, Jay Washington thinks that his outstanding performance in Game 6 of the ongoing PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals doesn’t really matter that much considering the Tropang Texters still wound up on the losing end.
Posting 14 points, 11 rebounds, and two steals, Washington rued the missed chance of taking the champion’s trophy last Sunday.
“It’s not about me. It’s about the team,” he said. “More importantly, a Game 7 in the Finals, all you need is a win.”
Washington acknowledged the factors which hurt Talk ‘N Text in their almost-title clincher, saying, “We’ve struggled offensively. Ivan (Johnson) was a little struggling. The other guys just had to step up and I’m lucky to have contributed.”
He added, “We know we had a lot of lapses. They made a lot of adjustments, and that’s Game 6 to you.”
With the series going into overdrive on Wednesday, Washington believes that they can counter the things done by Rain or Shine to finally swing the balance in favor of TNT .
“If anything, we’ll be able to adjust to what they did and hopefully come up with a game plan on Wednesday.” (RL)
