His entry into the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel squad came with high hopes, but unfortunately, coach Frankie Lim is staring at a 0-2 start in his PBA coaching debut.

The multi-titled mentor suffered his second straight loss as Ginebra lead tactician as the injury-hobbled Kings couldn’t quite get it through against Talk ‘N Text, falling 91-95 on Sunday.

And he could not hide his disappointment,

“Nakakapanghinayang yung effort,” Lim quipped as he made his exit from the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Despite being undersized and playing without their Twin Tower combo of Greg Slaughter and Japeth Aguilar, the fiery coach was happy with what he saw in his charges as the Texters only had one more rebound than them, 48-47.

Also, Lim focused on the turnovers as the Gin Kings only committed 16 to the Tropang Texters’ 20.

What bothered him more were the “bad decisions” they committed down the wire which he feels took a lot of fight out of the team.

Still, Lim is hopeful that his wards could slowly pick their spots as his sidelined players begin to heal from their injuries.

“Magiging comfortable lang yung team when we’re complete,” he said.

For now, Ginebra could only work with the materials on hand. (RL)
