REJUVENATED ROAD WARRIORS COLLIDE WITH GUTSY CARNIVAL
Ending a five-game losing streak dating back to the Commissioner’s Cup, NLEX is glad to finally stop the bleeding with its 91-84 win over Meralco last Wednesday.
On Monday, the Road Warriors eye to continue their winning ways as they brace for Kia at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
Drawing big contributions from Asi Taulava, Nino Canaleta, Mark Cardona and import Kwame Alexander, coach Boyet Fernandez could only be elated with the performance of his wards.
“I do thank my guys for sticking to our system. I appreciate them for staying with the system despite the five straight games we lost,” Fernandez said.
Though NLEX is still without Syrian import Michel Madanly, Fernandez is positive with the rest of the crew picking up the slack.
“The rest stepped up. Michel was injured. We tried to mix our rotation and we’re happy everybody stepped up,” he said.
But they will be up against a feisty Kia squad which pushed Barangay Ginebra to the limit on Wednesday before falling 98-105.
The Carnival will rely on the towering interior presence of Senegalese Hamady N’Diaye and Taiwanese reinforcement Jet Chang.
But the locals have also made their imprint in coach Manny Pacquiao’s squad, with LA Revilla, Karl Dehesa, and Alex Nuyles playing well as of late.
They will need all cylinders working when the two teams cross paths at 4:15 p.m. (RL)
