WE JUST GOT TO GRIND IT OUT & FINISH GAMES – BLAKELY
Losing their second straight heartbreaker, this time an 81-83 defeat against Meralco on Sunday, one must wonder what is really happening with the Star Hotshots.
For Marqus Blakely, it all starts with the simple things which got them to the top last season.
“It starts with our defense, flow and execution on offense,” he said.
Blakely continued, “We need to come together as a team. We need to grow from it as a team and just understand how teams like these that we have a chance to beat, we got to put down in the third and fourth quarters.”
“We just got to grind it out and finish games.”
The multi-faceted import had a chance to win the game, but his last-gasp three-pointer went a little bit to the right, and Marc Pingris’ putback at the buzzer also failed to find the bottom of the net as the Bolts escaped with the W.
“That last play was hard, but we didn’t lose that game on just that shot,” he said. “We just didn’t execute.”
Star, though, gets a week of reprieve before going up against San Miguel on Sunday. (RL)
