HEAVY LOAD PART OF THE JOB
Averaging 38.25 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 4.25 assists, Andre Emmett has been carrying the bulk of the load for Meralco so far in the PBA Governors’ Cup.
But despite the lack of support when it comes to the scoring load, the 32-year-old import said that the tremendous load on his shoulders is just part of the job.
“I’m comfortable. I’ve been scoring for my whole career, but what’s important for me is to use my abilities to make my teammates better. We have to depend on each other on both ends,” he said.
Though it has been an up-and-down conference so far for Meralco, Emmett said that their 2-2 slate is already a good one considering the deficiency the Bolts have in the frontcourt.
“It’s a tough league and we’re a very small team. Our approach is very important, we have to play tough, have faith in each other, have confidence in ourselves to make shots, make plays, get stops, and get rebounds,” he said.
And he believes that Meralco can still perform better as the conference goes.
“We know what we’re capable of doing,” Emmett said. “We have to approach every game the way we approach our wins, don’t take anything for granted.” (RL)
