Winning its fifth consecutive game after starting the conference 0-2, San Miguel Beer seems to have figured things out at this stage of the 2015 PBA Governors’ Cup.

Sunday evening, Chris Ross was all over the floor, making heads turn as he fuelled the Beermen to the win over Barangay Ginebra San Miguel. At 5-2, SMB may have just cornered a sure spot in the playoffs. But Ross cautioned his teammates that the time isn’t ripe for a celebration. Not just yet.

“It’s big for us, but we know that it’s only the beginning. We won five straight but we know it’s not how you start but how you finish,” he said.

FEATURED STORIES

“We missed the playoffs last conference so that has been our fuel. We’ve been working hard in practice and in the offseason and it’s starting to show in the games.”

Against the Kings, Ross recorded a near triple-double – 19 points, nine rebounds and nine assists. He was a big thorn on the sides of coach Frankie Lim’s wards. But for Ross, those are just numbers.

“I don’t really pay attention to that. I just try to go play hard, play smart for my team. As long as we’re winning, I’m okay with whatever my stats are,” he said, also crediting his teammates for his amazing statline.

“The assists are all about my teammates. I can make the pass but they have to make the shots. I have confidence in them and they have confidence in me. We’re just playing to win and we know that’s how to win championships, play together and play defense.” (RL)
