MER-tnt anthony

It’s not everyday that one gets to see Talk ‘N Text get blown off the court.

And it’s certainly not everyday that you see Sean Anthony explode for Meralco.

The hardworking forward was a big factor in the rout, posting 24 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists in the 119-85 win on Tuesday.

FEATURED STORIES

But even Anthony himself was shocked with the final score when he looked up the LED board after the buzzer.

“I was very surprised,” he said. “I didn’t notice it until the game was done. We were all zoned in to just keep on playing. I didn’t really do the math but I was shocked. We really played well on both ends.”

The big victory was just the win the Bolts badly needed, as their 4-3 card lifted them up to the upper half of the standings.

Anthony said, “It has been an up-and-down conference. We haven’t had back-to-back wins until tonight. It’s also about finding ourselves, our team tonight, we had flashes where we played really well both offensively and defensively. It was a great team effort tonight so it’s good to see everyone playing together.”

Beating Talk ‘N Text also brings positive vibes all over the team, as Meralco’s quest for respectability continues this conference.

“It’s a huge step for us in the right direction. We’re trying to get to one of those top four spots. We just had a great game against the champions of the last conference so it gives us confidence that we can play with those top teams if we play together,” said Anthony.

“We now have to keep it together and keep playing as a team.” (RL)
