San Miguel vs NLEX (060515)_header

San Miguel Beer is without a doubt the hottest team in the league right now. But until when can the Beermen continue to sizzle?

After a 0-2 start, the reigning Philippine Cup champs have racked up five straight wins in the 2015 PBA Governors’ Cup.

The Beermen’s 100-85 rout of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel on Sunday was just a prime example of the team’s chemistry during this run, and even coach Leo Austria has been impressed by his wards.

“I didn’t want our streak to stop. The target of our team is to get to the playoffs, get to the top four and get that twice-to-beat advantage,” he said.

At 5-2, San Miguel is in prime position to make it to the top four. However, the Beermen will be going up against a dangerous team in NLEX on Friday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Game time is at 7:00 p.m.

Though stuck at the bottom half of the standings, the Road Warriors have shown flashes of brilliance, as displayed in their 113-102 conquest of Alaska on Tuesday.

Finally, coach Boyet Fernandez had a chance to trot a fully healthy squad, with Syrian reinforcement Michel Madanly scoring 28 points in the win.

“We’re happy that we got this one. At last, we won against Alaska and it would give us more morale boost against San Miguel,” he said. (RL)
