Make it seven straight.

San Miguel Beer formalized its entry to the quarterfinals as the Beermen scored a 101-96 victory against Talk ‘N Text on Tuesday for their seventh consecutive win in the 2015 PBA Governors’ Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

San Miguel has been undefeated for a month now, with its last loss coming against Meralco on May 9, and the latest W pushed the Beermen closer to their quest for a top 4 spot and the twice-to-beat luxury that goes with it.

“This game is really important for us. Our goal is really to get to the top four,” said coach Leo Austria.

Arizona Reid scattered 29 points, 13 rebounds and five assists to pace the Beermen in a game where they fell by as much 15-32 early in the second quarter.

“I’m happy to see my players na di nag-give up. AZ (Reid) was able to lead the team and they responded,” said Austria.

Marcio Lassiter continued his stellar performance this conference as he got 15 markers, while Arwind Santos added 14 points and eight boards.

Alex Cabagnot joined the scoring party with his 11, as Ronald Tubid got 10 points on top of his impressive defensive showing against the Tropang Texters.

San Miguel tied the longest winning streak this season at seven, as well as dealing Talk ‘N Text (3-5) its fourth straight defeat.

Jayson Castro led the Tropang Texters with 25 points and seven assists while Steffphon Pettigrew got a double-double with his 17 markers and 11 rebounds. (RL)
