WE CAN’T AFFORD TO MAKE MISTAKES – TRILLO
To the eyes of youthful coach Luigi Trillo, the Alaska Aces’ best chance to beat the mighty Talk N Text Tropang Texters is to play near perfect basketball.
“The margin for error should be small. Against Talk N Text, we cannot afford to commit mistakes. We can get away with it against other teams, but not Talk N Text, which is the best team the past three years,” Trillo told pba.ph in a telephone interview.
Trillo will be appearing in his first semifinals in the PBA and just like any other mentor, he’s happy to make it to the Final Four.
“I think we were not ranked among teams that should make it to the Final Four prior to the start of the tournament,” he added. “But we cannot be satisfied. We’re not just a happy bunch who crashed into the semifinals. We should not be contented.”
Against the more experienced Tropang Texters, Trillo knows they’re in for a tough grind.
“Experience and familiarity is definitely their advantage,” said Trillo. “These guys have been together for so long, winning championships. We have experienced players as well, but we have just been formed recently.”
“We just have to bring our A-game every game. If we bring our B-game and they bring their A-game, there’s no chance for us to win. It’s always a must to bring our A-game against Talk N Text,” added Trillo, who along with Dickie Bachmann are the longest-serving members of the Alaska coaching staff. (RJ)
