Now the hottest team in the 2015 PBA Governors’ Cup with six straight wins, Rain or Shine hopes to sustain the momentum going into the playoffs.

Securing the third seed and a twice-to-beat edge in the quarterfinals, coach Yeng Guiao is glad that the streak allowed the Elasto Painters to recover from their early woes.

“We were able to make up for the bad start with our win streak, but it’s not over yet. We need one more win to get to the semis,” he said.

And on Saturday, the rugged Rain or Shine crew seeks to extend that run to seven and possibly bag a slot in the semifinals as they go up against Barako Bull.

“Our streak allowed us to adjust our expectations. Our chemistry got better and we have made strides in helping Wendell (McKines)” Guiao said.

Early on, local support was the achilles heel for the E-Painters when they started the conference on a 1-4 slate.

But they have solved that problem since and have been unbeatable in the second half of the eliminations.

That’s certainly bad news for the skidding Energy, whose four-game skid bundled them out of the top four.

But if there’s one thing coach Koy Banal can draw inspiration from, it is that Barako Bull was the last team to upend Rain or Shine, 112-103, almost a month ago after RR Garcia went ablaze in their only eliminations meeting.

Game time is at 3 p.m. at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. (RL)
