Alex Compton’s battle with sleepless nights continues.

As Alaska fell to a 0-2 hole in the 2015 PBA Governors’ Cup Finals, the American coach was left to wonder what has to be done to win a game against San Migiel in this championship duel.

“This is what causes me sleepless nights,” he said.

“The dilemma, I think, that us coaches have to deal with when we play San Miguel is (Alex) Cabagnot is a great point guard, 3-of-6 from the three, Chris Ross today, not known as a shooter but he’s 2-of-2 from the three, Chris Lutz is 1-for-2, Marcio (Lassiter) is 5-for-10, AZ (Reid) is 4-for-11. The dilemma we have is the most dominant player in the game June Mar Fajardo requires attention. So you got those guys, it’s a nice combination and it causes us problems.”

For the second straight game, San Miguel was able to drill double-digit treys which proved to be a big blow to Alaska’s trademark choking defense.

After going 10-of-28 in Game 1, the Beermen followed it up with a 17-of-40 shooting clip from beyond the arc in Game 2.

That hot shooting from rainbow country negated every inch of good defense Alaska had in the second game.

“It’s really challenging with all the threats that they have,” said Compton. “I really thought we generally played Alaska basketball most of the game.”

“We’re grinding it out, came back, and doing a lot of good things, and then, they just exploded for 25 points in six minutes and that’s a problem.”

Alaska has two days to find a solution to that problem with Game 3 set on Wednesday, 7 p.m. at Smart Araneta Coliseum. (DL)
