Work, play for players during PBA off-season
The PBA offseason presents an interesting set of days for the players who are all recovering from a tiring season that was.
For June Mar Fajardo, who is fresh from winning his second MVP and title with San Miguel, it’s a chance to get some well-needed rest and family time.
“Nasa Cebu ako. Busy pa rin sa mga gawaing bahay,” he said, treasuring the few days of break he can get with his family in his hometown.
Most of the players are expected to either hit the beach or book overseas trips, and some are making the most of their short vacation.
Paul Lee already made his return to the country after a short trip in the US, and Star players James Yap and Marc Pingris are also in Europe catching a breather from the tiring season that was before the PBA calendar begins anew.
However, for players who had underperforming campaigns this past season, the grind began early.
Ginebra players like Greg Slaughter and LA Tenorio have begun their individual training before they open a new chapter for the Gin Kings with coach Tim Cone.
“I’m trying to stay in shape and get my ankle better,” said Slaughter.
Blackwater is also conducting campus tour around the country in the hopes of building the chemistry the team lacked in its first season in the PBA.
Guys like Terrence Romeo and Calvin Abueva have also hit the gym in preparation for for their campaigns in the 2015 FIBA 3×3 World Tour.
