PBA Draft Focus: Big man Guinto ready to grind it out in the pros
For Bradwyn Guinto, this is his best chance for a shot in the pros.
The six-foot-six hardworking big man for San Sebastian in the NCAA believes that with a bevy of guards and wing men in the 2015 Gatorade PBA Rookie Draft pool, this year was the right time to apply.
“I feel that with the lack of big men, it’s also a good time for me to declare,” he said.
Guinto’s stock has bolstered by his solid performance for the Stags so far in the NCAA Season 91 men’s basketball tournament, and that’s where his confidence is coming from.
“I feel that I’m ready because my coaches are giving me confidence,” said Guinto. “All I want is my team to win. But whatever happens in the Draft happens.”
Though his focus is still on the on-going season, he’s not losing sight of his dream to turn pro.
Guinto knows that his experience in the collegiate ranks and in the PBA D-League has already prepared him for the grind in the PBA.
His capability to run up and down the court even as a big man, Guinto believes, would be his biggest asset against other frontcourt players in the draft.
“I like to run up-and-down the court so hopefully I could get them tired,” said Guinto. “I know they are bigger than me, but I’m willing to do the dirty work, hustle, and rebounding. Just whatever the team needs from me.”
