Ever since the 90s, the Purefoods franchise has been one of the powers in the PBA.

Legendary players like Alvin Patrimonio, Jerry Codiñera, Rey Evangelista, Jojo Lastimosa to name a few have donned that blue jersey.

On to the decade of the 2010s, Purefoods has taken on different names but retained its winning culture with the San Mig Coffee Mixers winning the Grand Slam with James Yap, Marc Pingris, and PJ Simon leading the way in 2013-2014 season.

PBA’s ensuing 2014-2015 season proved to be a nosedive for the now Star Hotshots as they finished the season without a single trophy.

FEATURED STORIES

As the 2015 Gatorade PBA Rookie Draft rolls along, the stacked Hotshots lineup could use a little help with the number eight pick in the draft landing on their laps.

From center all the way to point guard, the Hotshots have exceptional players but Star had a difficult 2014-2015 season with the absence of the injured Ian Sangalang who was their main offensive threat down low.

Outside Sangalang, the Hotshots don’t have a potent low-post scorer with Pingris being more of a defender.

Star needs another low-post threat to open the floor to Yap and Simon and giving point guard Mark Barroca another recipient inside the paint.

But the options are thin for the Hotshots as only 10 out of 64 aspirants are listed as centers and only a handful of those 10 people are potent offensive threats.
