Chris Newsome is largely known for his athletic ability but there’s more to the Ateneo standout than his athleticism.

Newsroom believes he can do a lot of things on the court and his versatility is what he can bring to a team that will select him in the 2015 Gatorade PBA Rookie Draft on Sunday.

“I feel that I’m capable of fitting in with a lot of teams because I’m a versatile player,” said the 25-year-old Newsome.

“I’m the type of player that whatever the team needs me to do, I’m willing to do it whether it’s rebound, assist, play point guard, play power forward whatever it is that I need to do,” he added.

The 6-foot-2 guard also said that if there’s one aspect in his game in college that he’ll be able to translate in the PBA it’s his ability to play defense.

“One thing that has been consistent throughout my career is to play defense.”

Much of the attention in this year’s draft has been on the consensus top two picks Moala Tautuaa and Troy Rosario and not there’s not a lot of talk going on when it comes to the other prospects.

But Newsome doesn’t mind if he gets talked about or not because he feels he’s been able to show what he’s capable of during his time in the UAAP and the PBA D-League with Hapee.

“I feel like I’ve been here long enough that coaches know how capable I am of playing. They’ve seen me in the UAAP, they’ve seen me play in the D-League and from that point I’m just going to leave it up to them to kind of judge my game if you will if I will fit into their system or not.”
