There’s not a lot of talk going on about a six-foot guard named Ryan Wetherell.

But after Wednesday’s 2015 Gatorade PBA Draft Combine, Wetherell introduced himself by topping three of the four tests measuring players’ physical abilities.

Wetherell was the fastest player to finish the 3/4 Court Sprint needing just 3.22 seconds. He was also the quickest in the Lane Agilility Drill at 10.8 seconds and the highest leaper among all the aspirants with a 43-inch vertical leap.

“I did my best. I’m just very happy and humbled that I won all the events that I did,” said the 27-year-old Wetherell, who had his whole family cheering for him watching at the stands at the Gatorade Hoops Gym in Mandaluyong.

“I never doubted my skills, but it’s up to the coaches. It’s not in my hands. But I think I’m definitely capable of that,” Wetherell said on possibly coming out of nowhere and becoming a first round pick.

In the morning session, Fil-American Maverick Ahanmisi ruled the 3/4 Court Sprint at 3.43 seconds, and the Lane Agility Drill at 11.22 seconds.

The Fil-Canadian Wetherell, who’s a star in his own playing in the amateur ranks in the Filsports Basketball League (FBA), played for the University of Southern California Trojans in the US NCAA Division 1.

Wetherell came in without much hype but had everyone at the Combine raving about him as he left.
