Gilas Pilipinas falls to Netherlands
A forgettable third quarter doomed Gilas Pilipinas as it fell to Netherlands, 89-62, in the 2015 Toyota Four Nations Cup at Saku Suurhall Arena in Talinn, Estonia on Friday (Manila time).
Limited to just four points in the third period, the Dutch capitalized on the Filipinos’ paltry shooting and unloaded 29 in the quarter, pulling away with the victory in the second half.
Calvin Abueva impressed in his national team debut, leading the squad with 12 points and six rebounds in the defeat.
Jayson Castro added eight points, as naturalized player Andray Blatche tallied seven markers and 12 boards in the defeat.
Gilas played without gunners Dondon Hontiveros and JC Intal, which resulted in a horrible 4-of-23 shooting from beyond the arc.
Aside from Hontiveros and Intal, Baldwin also did not play Ranidel de Ocampo (hamstring) and backup Moala Tautuaa.
