Salud: PBA will continue supporting Gilas
PBA president Chito Salud reiterated the league’s support for the national team program.
With a week to go before the 2015 Fiba Asia Championships, the former PBA commissioner who has assumed the role of the Chief Executive Officer has called for continuous support for Gilas Pilipinas.
“I want to focus on the silver linings, from giving our opponents the element of surprise to widening our pool in the future,” Salud said in a speech at the 2015 PBA Press Corps Awards Night on Wednesday at Century Park Hotel.
“With the Philippines back in the world stage, the PBA will continue supporting Gilas. For us to have more exciting times, it will be key for all of us to stick together, battle through differences, find a common ground, and keep advancing the ball.”
Salud also expressed his gratitude to those who have dedicated their time and effort to build a competitive team for the Philippines
“I’m often asked what I think about the absence of sought out players. I have nothing but gratitude to those who have played, are playing, and will play in the future.”
He refuses to listen to the criticism being thrown the national team’s way.
“I simply refuse to indulge in it further than that. It is a disservice to those who have volunteered.”
