China ousts Iran, books Fiba Asia 2015 final ticket
China booked a return ticket to the finals of Fiba Asia after ousting erstwhile champion Iran, 70-57, in a display of domination in their semifinals match Friday in Changsa, China.
Buoyed by the hometown crowd, the Chinese never trailed and held the Iranians, who ruled the 2013 edition of the championships held in Manila, to just measly 29 points in the first half.
Yi Jianlian led China with 13 points, eight rebounds and four blocked shots.
China is looking to win the tournament, along with lone berth to the 2016 Rio Olympics, again since topping the 2011 Fiba Asia in Wuhan.
