Ronnie MatiasRonnie Matias bounced around from one team to another since being let go by Rain or Shine two years ago.

Matias played for four teams in the last two seasons before returning to the Elasto Painters, the franchise where he made a name for himself as a versatile forward.

A ninth overall pick in the 2009 PBA Draft, Matias said he feels like a rookie all over again being back as a member of the Painters.

“Homecoming nga,” said Matias, feeling rejuvenated in his return. “Pakiramdam ko rookie ulit ako ngayon. Bagong start na naman.”

The 31-year-old Matias enjoyed his best basketball as a key part of Rain or Shine during the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons. In 2012, Matias won his first PBA title when the Painters captured the PBA Governors’ Cup crown.

Matias hopes to pick up where he left off.

“Ang sabi lang sa akin ni coach Yeng (Guiao), mag-ensayo ako kaya nagtiyaga lang talaga ako. Nagpapasalamat ako sa kanila,” said Matias, who last played for Barako Bull. “Gagawin lang namin ang best namin sa bawat laro.
