2015-16 PBA Season Preview: Star Hotshots
No doubt there is pressure taking up a job left by the great Tim Cone, but that’s the last thing on Jason Webb’s mind as the Star Hotshots begin a new journey.
“Yung pressure, di ko sya iniisip. Coach Tim is the best coach in history. If I do good, at least it shows na mayroon syang naiwan and we’re able to carry that through,” he said.
Webb, though, is gearing the Hotshots towards something different for the PBA season 41, which opens on Sunday with the PBA Philippine Cup.
“We’re running something different,” Webb said. “We have some ideas from the triangle, and you’re going to see some of it, but overall, it’s a little different.”
The Hotshots will be parading a rebuilding core but with same, tested players to lead them in James Yap, PJ Simon, and Marc Pingris.
Bolstering Star’s front court are Ian Sangalang, who is returning from an ACL injury, Norbert Torres, Jake Pascual, while beefing up the Hotshots’ wing rotation is Ronald Pascual.
Webb admits it has been a tough offseason for the Hotshots but they are training hard to get to tip-top shape come opening night.
“We’re preparing as much as we can with what we have,” he said.
