Having nine days to address the nagging issues after Star’s first three games, coach Jason Webb said that the Hotshots focused more on their defense over anything else.

“We believe it’s more important to make stops. We worked more on our defense. That’s what we addressed in our break,” he said on Thursday at Star’s practice at Ronac Art Center.

Allowing GlobalPort to score 101 points in Star’s latest defeat, Webb is putting more emphasis on the defensive end as the Hotshots continue to finetune their new system.

It also helps that two more components joined the Star roster on Tuesday.

FEATURED STORIES

Allein Maliksi has returned from a week-long suspension, while former Letran guard and Star’s rookie Mark Cruz is slowly getting himself integrated ito the Hotshots lineup.

Though still missing Rafi Reavis, who is out for six weeks due to a dislocated finger, Webb is hoping that other guys will step up

“Each and every one of our players is distinctly different. Once you lose one, you lose certain characteristics that the others don’t have. While guys will have to cover the loss, they usually cover that on different ways. We’re hoping those guys can contribute,” he said.

Star returns to the court on Sunday against NLEX.
