Ramos, Canaleta admit win vs former team sweeter
Nino Canaleta and Aldrech Ramos admitted that beating their former team NLEX made Mahindra’s first win a little sweeter.
The two forwards led the Enforcers to a 103-93 domination of the Road Warriors on Friday night for the breakthrough victory in the 2016 Smart Bro PBA Philippine Cup.
“Syempre masarap, lalo na sa former team,” said Canaleta, who had 14 points and five rebounds in the win. “Kumbaga parang mas masarap yung feeling na makuha yung first win namin against NLEX.”
“Sobrang happy,” chimed Ramos, who got 14 markers and six boards. “At last nakuha na namin yung goal namin.”
Ramos and Canaleta are part of the three-team trade involving second round pick Troy Rosario.
But they both clarified that they were not trying to exact revenge on their former but rather just aiming to get the Enforcers going with a victory.
“Nothing personal. Basta matalo ko lang sila, okay na ako dun. Wala namang personal matters,” said Canaleta.
Ramos said that all Mahindra has to do is to sustain their tenacity if the Enforcers want to score more wins this conference.
“Di naman lang today. Every game, dapat go hard. Yun lang yung approach ko ng game kasi dun lalabas ang laro namin,” he said.
“Nakikita ko sa team namin, hindi kami malakas. Pero basta’t pagtrabahuhan lang namin, we will be a better team,” he said. “Di kami strong team, basta good team kami.”
