Barako Bull and Meralco, two struggling teams, tussle it out in the curtain raiser Sunday of the 2015-2016 Smart Bro-PBA Philippine Cup at Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

The match serves as an undercard for the much-awaited duel between the league’s two young giants June Mar Fajardo and Greg Slaughter in the second game.

Still winless, the Bolts are hoping to finally break out of the slump, coming off a 105-91 whipping in the hands of Talk N’ Text last Wednesday.

That’s why coach Norman Black and his crew are scampering to correct their miscues to finally end Meralco’s slide.

“We’re not in a position where we want to be right now, but fortunately, there’s still a lot of season to play,” said Jimmy Alapag. “Hopefully, we’ll figure it out and get to the win column on Sunday.”
Coach Koy Banal, meanwhile, is looking for the strong finishing they are lacking so far this season.

“Kulang pa ng finishing kick and that’s obvious. Half of the team are new, so yun ang naging result,” he said, moments after the Energy fell to GlobalPort, 105-91 last Sunday.

Unlike the Bolts, Bakaro already has a victory across its name after defeating Ginebra but a win would put the squad back to .500.

Game time is at 3 p.m. (LR)
