Alfrancis Chua says he’s not in talks with Roger Yap over ‘unpaid bonuses’
San Miguel Corp. sports director Alfrancis Chua debunked an online report that he’s in talks with former player Roger Yap over “unpaid bonuses” in the PBA last season.
“Barangay Ginebra ang team ko. Barako Bull ang team niya. Bakit kami ang maguusap,” said Chua.
“At saka the past two or three years, hindi kami nagkikita non. Paano kami maguusap,” Chua added.
The video posted by the same sports portal to accompany the report didn’t hear any mention by Yap of Chua’s name.
It was the reporter who mentioned “ano sabi ni Al Chua, yung team manager ng San Miguel (actually Barangay Ginebra)?”
Meanwhile, PBA media bureau chief Willie Marcial said the league commissioner is aware of the discussion between Yap and Barako Bull team manager Reyboy Rodriguez, not between Yap and Chua.
Yap was claiming Barako Bull owed him around P700,000 in bonuses although he’s relegated as reserve for most of last season.
“What I know under league rules, ang bonus ng reserve player depende sa usapan ng player at ng kanyang mother ball club,” said Marcial.
