Hodge playing through pain for struggling Bolts
For Cliff Hodge, rest is for the weak.
Asked by the doctors to let his sprained wrist heal for a couple of weeks, the energetic forward defied their orders and suited up in the last two games for Meralco.
“It hurts but I just got to play through it. We got to get our first win. It’s painful, but mind over matter,” he said.
Hodge admits that the pain intensifies whenever he plays with it, but with the Bolts scampering to just get one in the winning column, the whole team just have to play through the adversity.
“With our record right now, I can’t afford to sit out. I got to give my best and help us get in the win column,” he said.
Though the vibe in the Meralco camp has been gloomy, the losses have made the team stronger in terms of their bond, and Hodge was the first to note that.
“I feel like the team is coming together right now. After the five losses, we’ve had a couple of team meetings and we’re all getting on the same page,” he said.
“It’s frustrating not getting any wins, but you can’t look at it in a negative way. You’ve got to be positive, encourage our guys, and the wins are going to start coming.”
