Abueva on hard fall: ‘Pinagpag ko lang’
Meet Calvin Abueva, the Iron Man.
It doesn’t matter how many times he falls down, you can count on the energetic forward to stand back up and and keep on playing.
Case in point: Alaska’s 123-104 win over GlobalPort on Tuesday.

Abueva suffered a painful fall on a rebound play midway in the first quarter, but shook off the pain in his back and returned to the court in the second half.
“Ok lang ako,” he said. “Pinagpag lang. Konting therapy, pero kaya naman ito next game.”
Despite the pain, Abueva still managed 11 points, five rebounds, and three assists in the wire-to-wire victory.
Abueva credited the whole team’s impressive showing that allowed them to grab a share of the top spot in the 2016 Smart Bro PBA Philippine Cup.
“Maganda yung rotation namin, yung pasahan, yung defense, at yung teamwork. Kaya siguro ganun yung nilaro namin,” he said, assuring that he will once again be at peak form when the Aces return to the court on Tuesday. “Ready to fight na naman against Star Hotshots.”
One thing’s for sure, Abueva won’t change his enigmatic style for anything, not even for a new moniker.
“Gusto ko yung ‘The Beast’ pa rin.”
