For Terrence Romeo, GlobalPort’s 123-104 whipping at the hands of Alaska on Friday was an eye-opener.

Blitzing their opponents in the offensive end in the Batang Pier’s three-game winning run, they hit a brick wall against the Aces.

“Problema namin yung depensa eh. Di kami nakapag-communicate ng maayos. Nakaka-shoot kami pero nakakabawi din ang Alaska. Kailangan talaga iimprove yung team defense namin,” he said.

Alaska threw everything but the kitchen sink at GlobalPort, showcasing its depth in confusing the Batang Pier.

The move paid dividends for coach Alex Compton, as the Aces dominated the rebounding department, 57-48, and made the most of the Batang Pier’s turnovers and outscoring them 20-9.

It also didn’t help GlobalPort’s cause that Stanley Pringle was plagued with foul trouble, as Romeo had to carry the cudgels for his squad for a 33-point outing powered by seven threes.

“Lagi kong iniisip mag-step up. Yung team namin, lahat capable makapag-deliver every given time,” he said, acknowledging the Batang Pier’s capabilities.

He also tasked himself to do better, saying, “Kailangan maging consistent ako. Yung game ko, di pwedeng maganda ngayon, tapos sa susunod, hindi na naman.
Kailangan tuloy-tuloy.”

Romeo vows that GlobalPort will bounce back strong when the Batang Pier goes up against Ginebra in Wednesday.

“Kailangan mas double-effort kami sa preparation sa next game, mag-move on, isipin ang mali, at mag-adjust kami,” he said. “Babawi kami sa susunod.”
