“I am officially announcing my retirement from playin professional basketball. Been blessed to have 16 years of pure bliss. The journey continues. Thank you everyone from the bottom of my heart.”
“Sixteen years ago today, I embarked on a journey in professional basketball not knowing what would be in store for me. The memories of perseverance, hard work, discipline, preparation, victories, setbacks and adventures will forever be engraved in my heart,” he said. “This sport that I love has given me a life of discipline along with special people that have guided me in my success not only as a player but as an individual with substance. I’d like to thank God for blessing me with the gift of life and the endless opportunities he continues to give me.”
The 38-year-old thanked his close friends and coaches for a career well spent, especially coach Tim Cone who he spent 11 years with.
“(I) Spent almost half my career with him and wished I could’ve spent more. He built my game, my skills in basketball and gave me a career. So humble and goal-oriented. I owe so much to you. Thank you coach Tim,” he said.
Allado, a product of La Salle, was picked eighth by Alaska in 1999 Draft and spent the next seven years with the Aces before bouncing around the league with stops at Talk ‘N Text, Air21, B-Meg, Barako Bull, and Meralco.
The three-time PBA All-Star spent his final season with the Star Hotshots last year.
