Looking to beef up its frontline, Racal Motors has its eye on Jason Perkins as its possible top selection in the 2016 PBA D-League Rookie Draft on Tuesday at PBA Cafe in Metrowalk, Pasig City.

“Right now, we’re looking at Jason Perkins. That’s one position which is hard to get, so basically, he’s the one we’re closely looking at,” shared Alibaba coach Caloy Garcia.

The 6-foot-3 Perkins is an integral part of the La Salle Green Archers in the UAAP.

“We’re just looking at the positions that we lack,” he said. “We’re going to try to get the best possible talent out of those teams. From there, we’ll look at other players in the Draft.”

The Rain or Shine deputy also explained that the Alibaba roster for the upcoming Aspirants’ Cup, to start on January next year, will be made up of the best players from Caida Tiles and Kama Motors.

A golden chance has been presented to the Alibaba as they gun for their first ever D-League title with the absence of the usual contenders this coming conference.

However, Garcia said that it would still be a tough field to play in.

“Without those top teams, you still have school-based squads coming in. Practically, their advantage is that they have an import and they have the chemistry.”

AMA University owns the second pick followed by Tanduay Light, defending Foundation Cup titlist Cafe France and Wang’s Basketball. Returning BDO-NU and new teams Phoenix Petroleum, Mindanao Aguilas and Jam Liner-UP’s picks ranging from sixth to ninth will be determined by draw lots.
