Skidding Star, Mahindra cross paths
The panic button has been pressed for both Star and Mahindra.
Saddled at the bottom of the standings with an identical 2-6 card, both the Hotshots and the Enforcers would love to chalk one more to their respective win columns.
But they will have the chance to do that at each other’s expense.
The two will square off on Sunday in the 2016 Smart Bro PBA Philippine Cup at Smart Araneta Coliseum in hopes of improving their chances of making it to the quarterfinals. Game time is at 3 p.m.
Star has still not found the right mix as it currently finds itself on a four-game skid.
Coach Jason Webb has been looking for ways to solve the problem, but hasn’t been successful after Hotshots absorbed their latest defeat last Saturday, 101-90, in the hands of San Miguel. That despite superb showing from James Yap, Mark Barroca, and Peter June Simon.
It was the same case for Mahindra, as June Mar Fajardo and the rest of the Beermen made short work of the Enforcers last Wednesday, 102-86.
Aldrech Ramos, Nino Canaleta, and rookie Bradwyn Guinto proved to be no match for the championship core of San Miguel.
