Ramos emerging as Mahindra’s main guy
Aldrech Ramos may have gotten a new career-high in scoring, but he is concerns lie more on Mahindra’s chances of making it to the playoffs.
“Hopefully umabot (sa quarterfinals). Ok naman kami, nandoon naman kami as a team. Yung finishing na lang ang kailangan,” he said after tallying 26 points and 12 rebounds in the Enforcers’ 104-96 defeat to Star.
It’s a new lease on life for the former FEU Tamaraw as he emerges from being a role to player to one of the leaders for Mahindra.
“Masaya ako, unang una dahil nakakatulong ako, at lumalaban kami kahit sa malalakas na team,” he said. “Marami namang magaling na player yung Mahindra, pero as a team na lang kami. Mag-contribute lang ng maayos, magiging ok kaming lahat.”
Ramos said the Gilas experience has also taught him a lot with coach Tab Baldwin’s motivating words still on his mind.
“Malaking tulong sa akin yung Gilas stint. Kahit na-cut ako sa final 12, malaking contribution sa akin, kahit sa practice lang, nahahasa ka na,” he said.
But the focus remains on Mahindra, as it closes in on what could be its first quarterfinals appearance in franchise history.
“Positive naman kami kasi may two games pa. Bawi na lang sa next two games. Hopefully, makuha ang panalo,” Ramos said.
The Enforcers wrap up their eliminations assignment against GlobalPort and Blackwater.
